BMW 5 Series LWB Revealed: In a move set to shake up the luxury sedan market, German luxury auto giant BMW has unveiled its 5 Series LWB variant for the Indian market ahead of its official launch on July 24. This introduction aims to challenge the dominance of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB in the segment. With its launch, the new 5 Series LWB will become BMW's third long wheelbase sedan in India, following the 3 Series and 7 Series.

BMW 5 Series LWB - Exterior Design & Dimensions

Talking about its design, the front fascia of the 5 Series features a more prominent BMW kidney grille with an illuminated outline, complemented by tweaked Adaptive LED headlights with Matrix High Beam technology. The elongated bonnet adds a sporty appeal while other design highlights include a '5' lettering on the C-pillar, a high shoulder line and flat L-shaped rear lights.

The BMW 5 Series LWB is now 41 mm taller, 32 mm wider and 212 mm longer than its predecessor. The most notable change is the 130 mm increase in the wheelbase, promising more space and comfort for rear passengers. While the sedan stands on 18-inch alloy wheels, larger wheels are expected to be offered as optional at launch.

BMW 5 Series LWB - Cabin & Features 

Moving inside the cabin of the 5 Series LWB, it offers top-notch backseat luxury. The extended wheelbase ensures ample legroom for rear passengers, with cushioned seats providing enhanced comfort. The backseats feature dedicated head cushions, side bolstering and a pull-down armrest with a wireless phone-charging pad. In the front, it gets a BMW curved display unit, consisting of a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.9-inch main infotainment screen. Additional features include ambient lighting, four-zone climate control and near-invisible seam vents for air conditioning. For the first time, BMW offers an entirely vegan interior in the 5 Series LWB, covering seats, the dashboard, door panels and even the steering wheel. Other highlights include an updated steering wheel design, a Bower & Wilkins surround sound system and a panoramic sunroof.

BMW 5 Series LWB - Competition

It is poised to compete directly with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, the current best-seller in its segment. The 5 Series LWB blends the sportiness of the 3 Series with the luxury of the 7 Series, making it a strong contender in the luxury sedan market.
