High temperatures are a task not just for us but also for our vehicles. Air Conditioning
During the summer season, your vehicle's air conditioning system is heavily used and requires regular maintenance. To prevent issues like slow cooling, roll down the windows when you enter the car to release trapped heat. Then, switch the AC to the highest fan setting and wait for some time before turning it on for optimal performance.
Coolant Level
During the summer season, it's essential to maintain proper fluid levels in your car. Coolant is especially very important to prevent overheating of the engine which is a common issue in summers. Make sure to check coolant levels regularly, especially in older cars and ensure the radiator is serviced and free of leaks.
Fluid Levels
During the summer season, high temperatures can result in lower levels of engine oil, especially if it's old. Therefore, it is important to regularly check oil levels and keep refilling whenever required. Also, check power steering, brake and transmission fluid levels to already be aware of any potential issues.
Tyre Pressure
During the summer season, it is also important to take proper care of your car’s tyres. If your car tyres are not properly inflated, it can result in damaged tyres which can lead to blowouts, especially on hot roads. Make sure that your tyre pressure levels are at the recommended level and keep monitoring them regularly.
Battery
During the summer season, high temperatures increase battery fluid evaporation which might reduce the lifespan of your car battery. Therefore, it is important to check that the battery is charging correctly and inspect terminals for corrosion. Make sure to check battery fluid levels regularly, particularly in older batteries as they require frequent water top-ups. Newer vehicles are typically equipped with zero-maintenance batteries but still require periodic checks, especially in summers.
