Car Dent Repair: As a car owner, it's important to be prepared that your car may eventually get dents. These dents can occur while parking, driving, or due to someone else's mistake. While your car may look great on the inside, dents on the exterior can detract from its appearance and reduce its resale value. Fortunately, there are easy DIY methods you can use to remove dents from your car using common household items. Here are simple ways to fix car dents without the need to visit a professional shop.
Hammer The Dent
Using a hammer to tap the dent outwards may seem strange, but it can be effective for medium to large-sized dents. This method works best when you can easily access the dent from behind. Before hammering, place a cloth over the dent to prevent scratching the surface.
Hair Dryer & Compressed Air
To fix dents in your car's plastic parts, you can also use the hair dryer method. Take a hair dryer and set it to its highest temperature setting and direct the hot air onto the dent. This heat will help the plastic to expand and regain its original shape. The hair dryer technique works best for minor damages.
Vacuum Cleaner
To repair a car dent, you can also use a vacuum cleaner. Along with the vacuum cleaner, you will also require tape and a bucket. Start by creating a small hole in the bottom of the bucket and securely tape the vacuum cleaner's nozzle over it, ensuring an airtight seal. Place the nozzle over the dent and let the vacuum cleaner do its work to pull out the dent.
Boiling Water
To remove an unwanted dent on your car, you can pour boiling water over the area with the dent. This method can save you money on repairs, however, to ensure success, you must have access to the backside of the dent. After pouring hot water, quickly pour cold water over it to help the area set its shape faster.
Plunger Method
To fix a medium-sized dent on your car, a plunger can also be a useful tool. A flat or cup plunger works best for removing dents. Place the plunger over the dent with some water and pull it with as much force as possible. For larger dents, try pulling from different angles.
