Disadvantages Of Sunroofs In Summers: During the scorching summer months in India, the love for cars with sunroofs can sometimes come with a few drawbacks. While sunroofs are a sought-after feature due to their aesthetic appeal and the open-air experience they provide, they can contribute to increased heat inside the car, leading to certain disadvantages.

Increased Heat Inside The Car

One significant disadvantage of having a sunroof during summer is the increased heat inside the vehicle. Normally, the roof of a car is made of metal and covered completely, equipped with a special layer that prevents excessive heat absorption. However, in cars with sunroofs, a considerable portion of the roof is made of glass. This glass area absorbs sunlight, causing the interior of the car to become hotter than in cars with normal roofs.

Strain On Air Conditioning

The increased heat inside a car with a sunroof also puts additional strain on the air conditioning (AC) system. Since the car interior gets excessively hot due to sunlight, the AC needs to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature. This increased workload can lead to the AC functioning beyond its normal capacity, affecting its efficiency and performance.

Reduced Mileage

Moreover, the need to run the AC at a higher speed in sunroof-equipped cars during summer can negatively impact the mileage of your car. The AC consumes more energy to cool down the cabin, resulting in higher fuel consumption and ultimately affecting the vehicle's average mileage.
