Tesla Model Y Price In India: Tesla began its Indian chapter on July 15, 2025, with the opening of its first showroom in Mumbai. The brand is anticipated to open its flagship showroom soon in the national capital, Delhi, followed by another showroom in Gurugram. But do you know that Tesla cars will cost more in Gurugram, when compared to the brand’s other locations, such as Delhi and Mumbai? We will be taking the Tesla Model Y as an example to understand the whole pricing confusion.
Tesla Model Y: Price In India
The brand launched the Model Y SUV in India with prices starting at Rs 59.89 lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Model Y will be offered in two variants in the country: a standard rear-wheel drive and a long-range rear-wheel drive model. The standard model of the car has a claimed range of up to 499 kilometers, once fully charged, while the long-range model has a claimed range of up to 622 kilometers. The Ex-showroom prices of the car will remain the same; however, the on-road prices will differ depending on the state and region.

Tesla Model Y: Cost In Gurugram
The standard model of the Tesla Model Y will have an on-road price of Rs 61.07 lakhs (Ex-showroom) in Mumbai, while the long-range model will cost Rs 69.15 lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Standard model will cost Rs 61.06 lakhs (Ex-showroom), whereas the long-range model will cost Rs 69.14 lakhs (Ex-showroom) in Delhi. The standard Model Y will cost Rs 66.76 lakhs (Ex-showroom), whereas the long-range model will cost Rs 75.61 lakhs (Ex-showroom) in Gurugram. This means the standard variant of the Model Y will be more expensive by Rs 5.70 lakhs, and the long-range model will cost Rs 6.40 lakhs more in Gurugram.

Tesla Model Y: Higher Costs Explained
The reason behind Tesla Model Y being more expensive in Gurugram and comparatively cheaper in Delhi and Mumbai lies in the different EV policies. Delhi and Mumbai have refined EV policies, which ultimately lead to EV buyers paying less taxes in these states. Guruguram, on the other hand, doesn’t have such policies. Thus, EV buyers end up paying more taxes in the region.
