Talking about the smallest pick-up truck in Ford’s line-up, the Ranger shares its platform with the Endeavour. The Ford Endeavour SUV is known as the Ford Everest in global markets. The purpose of the new-gen Endeavour and Ranger pickup truck being present in Chennai is unclear. However, it is speculated that they may be headed to Ford India's plant located on the outskirts of the city.

Pickup trucks are extremely popular in several global markets across the world such as Australia, Africa, America and many more. However, not everyone requires such a large vehicle for daily use which has resulted in the emergence of small pickup trucks. Small pick-up trucks sold in the Indian market include models such as the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max, Isuzu V-Cross and Mahindra Bolero Camper. Kia has also announced that it is working on a small pickup truck model for the Indian market. If Ford Ranger is launched in India, it will join the likes of these models.
