GST 2.0 Effect: Bridgestone – a main player in India's passenger car radial (PCR) and commercial truck and bus radial (TBR) tyre categories – has announced that it will pass on the benefits of GST rate cuts to customers, effective from September 22. The GST (Goods and Services Tax) rate reduction, according to Bridgestone, will apply to the entire product portfolio on sale in the Indian market, including premium, standard, and speciality tyres.

GST Rate Cut: Aim and Bridgestone India's Comment

Bridgestone India's price reduction is a direct response to the government's landmark overhaul of the GST regime, which paved the way for a broader two-slab structure (5 and 18 per cent). It aims to benefit end-consumers across the commercial and passenger vehicle segments by lowering the tyre maintenance and replacement costs.

'This decision by the Government reflects a forward-looking approach to strengthening the automotive ecosystem, and we thank the Honourable Prime Minister and the Government for the same. Bridgestone India is proud to pass on the benefits of the GST reduction to our customers, supporting not just affordability but also encouraging sustainable and safer mobility practices,' said Rajarshi Moitra, Deputy Managing Director, Bridgestone India.

Passing on the benefits from the recent GST rate reduction to customers also reflects the Japanese brand's dedication to transparency and trust, according to Bridgestone, while reinforcing the long-standing relationship with customers.

Bridgestone Manufacturing Plants in India

With nearly 3 decades in India, Bridgestone currently has two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants: Indore, Madhya Pradesh (1998) and Chakan, Pune (2013). Bridgestone India, which positioned itself as a global leader in tyres and mobility solutions, rolled out its 100 millionth tyre at its Indore plant in 2023, coinciding with the company's silver jubilee in India.
