Haryana Police Challan:  Electric Vehicles (EVs) have zero tailpipe emissions, and they are considered the future of a cleaner and more sustainable environment. But what if an EV is penalised for causing pollution by the traffic police? One such incident has recently surfaced on social media, and the Haryana Police is facing backlash. Let’s take a look.

EV Fined For Causing Pollution

An Electric Vehicle owner recently posted images of an E-challan on the social media platform X (previously Twitter), and what followed was the public backlash against the Haryana Police. The challan report contains photos of a Tata Punch EV, along with the green number plate, which is for EVs. In the report, a fine of Rs 10,000, along with a fine of Rs 2,000 for overspeeding, has been imposed on the EV for causing pollution. The vehicle owner also alleged that the Haryana Police had imposed a penalty for overspeeding without mentioning the recorded speed.

Haryana Police Faces Backlash

The photos shared on the social media platform X have been viewed by more than 4.5 lakh people so far, and the Haryana Police is facing backlash. One of the users posted a funny comment reading, ‘Bruh, he probably charged with electricity from a diesel generator.’ Another user commented sarcastically, ‘Oops, when you were speeding, dust flew up so fast it caused some air pollution!’ Another user targeted the judicial system and commented, ‘As I said, they count on one thing: you won’t go to court for a ₹10–20k illegal challan because justice will cost you more than the loot.’
