Kia EV6: Why This Electric Car Should Be Your First Choice While Buying Affordable Premium EVs In India | Explained

South Korean manufacturer Kia launched its flagship EV model in India, the Kia EV6 in June 2022. Ever since its launch, the EV6 has captivated the Indian EV market with its attractive looks, top-notch features, extraordinary performance and driving experience while also offering great driving range. 

Kia EV6 was launched in India with its prices ranging from Rs 60.95 lakh to Rs 65.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia EV6 is available in two variants in India -  EV6 GT line and EV6 GT line AWD. It competes with other EV models in the affordable premium EV segment like the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Mini Cooper SE, Volvo C40 Recharge and BMW iX1.

Kia EV6 

Power - Kia EV6 is built on the new e-GMP platform and gets two powertrain options - a RWD and an AWD drivetrain. The RWD variant comes equipped with a single motor that churns 226 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Contrastingly, the AWD variant comes equipped with a dual motor setup that produces a power output of 321 bhp and 605 Nm of torque. 

Performance - The RWD powertrain variant can achieve a top speed of 184 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. It offers an impressive driving range of 685 kilometres. The AWD powertrain variant boasts a top speed of 187 km/h and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The AWD variant offers better performance figures but lacks on the driving range as it offers 625 kilometres of range. However, it is not less when compared to other EV models in India. 

Battery and Charging - The Kia EV6  is equipped with a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged using an AC charger from 10-100 per cent in 7 hours 20 minutes. However, while using a DC fast charger 50 kw (max 125A), it can be charged from 10-80 per cent in 1 hour 13 minutes and by using a 350 kw (max 200A), it can be charged from 10-80 per cent in just 18 minutes. 

Measurement - Talking about the measurements of the car, it is 1,550 mm tall, 4,695 mm long and 1,890 mm wide. It has a kerb weight between 1900 to 2100 kg, depending on the variant.

Features - Notable features of the Kia EV6 include dual LED headlights, body-coloured exterior flush door handles, connected LED tail lights with sequential indicators and a wide electric sunroof. Advanced tech features include driver and passenger relaxation seats, 12.3 inch curved touchscreen navigation, 12.3 inch curved driver display screen, head-up display, drive modes, vehicle-to-load charging, Kia Connect functionality, Meridian premium sound system with 14 speakers, smart power tailgate and shift-by-wire technology. Safety features on the EV6 include collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and more.
