Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Launch: Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, commenced production of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e Vitara, at Gujarat's Hansalpur plant in late August 2025. Since then, the carmaker has exported over 6,000 units (6,068, to be precise) of the e Vitara, with the first batch of 2,900 units destined for the UK and several EU nations such as Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Austria.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: India Launch Details
This marks Maruti Suzuki's official entry into the global EV export market from its Hansalpur manufacturing facility, earmarked as the global manufacturing hub for the e Vitara. The made-in-India Suzuki e Vitara is the first of the EVs the company plans to launch by 2030. The e Vitara is expected to go on sale in the country in early 2026.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Battery, Platform
Positioned as the brand's global strategy BEV, the e Vitara is built on an all-new platform developed in collaboration with Toyota. At launch, the brand is expected to offer the BEV in two battery configurations (49kWh and 61kWh), with the larger battery pack claiming an MIDC range of more than 500km. The all-wheel-drive version of the e Vitara is likely to be added at a later date.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Features
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to be offered with a feature-rich cabin. Expected features include a panoramic display, wireless smartphone mirroring, a powered driver's seat, and ventilated front seats. Being a 4-star safe BEV, the e Vitara is likely to be equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane assist, seatbelt reminders (standard for the front and rear), 7 airbags, in addition to an airbag cut-off switch. A Level 2 ADAS suite is also on the cards.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Price, Rivals
The e Vitara will face competition from the Mahindra BE6, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Kia Syros EV upon launch in India. Expect the vehicle to be priced north of Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
