Upcoming Cars in India 2025: Fasten your seatbelts! Following August's flurry of facelifts and new launches, next month is set to amp up the action with a diverse range of cars, including the new Maruti Suzuki midsize SUV, Volvo's entry-level EX30, VinFast's first electric vehicles (for the Indian market), Citroen's top-spec Basalt X coupe-SUV, the facelifted version of the Mahindra Thar, and more. Let's take a closer look now:
New Maruti Suzuki Midsize SUV
Maruti Suzuki will launch its upcoming midsize SUV in India on September 3. Likely to be called the Escudo, the new SUV is rumoured to be positioned above the Grand Vitara (Rs 11.42 lakh-Rs 20.68 lakh, ex-showroom). The latter is a premium SUV sold through a Nexa chain of outlets, but we expect the company to retail its new SUV through Arena dealerships. Based on the same platform as the Grand Vitara, the upcoming SUV is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech, along with a CNG variant.
Volvo EX30 EV
Volvo's EX30 is believed to be the smallest and most affordable electric vehicle in the company's lineup. Featuring the brand's Sustainable Experience Architecture Platform, the EX30 EV is sold with two battery packs in international markets. The India-spec version is expected to offer a 69kWh unit, a rear-mounted motor, a 480km range (WLTP), and a fast charger. Volvo has yet to announce the launch date of the EX30, but we expect its prices to be revealed in the first half of September.

VinFast VF 6, VF 7
The VF 6 and the VF 7 will be VinFast's first electric offerings for India. They will be launched on September 6 and locally assembled at the brand's manufacturing plant in the country. The VF 6 is a mid-size electric vehicle with a 59.6kWh battery sending power to a front axle-mounted motor, while the VF 7 is a crossover equipped with a 70.8kWh LFP battery pack, supporting both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups. Bookings began in July.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift
Hyundai is preparing its Ioniq 5 facelift, already on sale in international markets, for launch in India. The new version is expected to boast sharper styling and feature upgrades. A single Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) motor, with both RWD and AWD systems, is likely to be available. The ex-showroom price will likely exceed the Rs 50 lakh mark.
Mahindra Thar Facelift
Mahindra is likely to launch the three-door Thar facelift in the second week of September. The upcoming model is believed to borrow design cues from the Thar Roxx. Expected features include a larger touchscreen, a 360-degree camera (top-spec variants), wireless charging, and ventilated front seats. No updates are expected in its powertrain options.

Citroen Basalt X
Citroen intends to reveal the Basalt X on September 5. Recently released teaser images hint at cosmetic and feature upgrades. Mechanicals are expected to be carried over, though. We expect the Citroen Basalt X to be positioned as the range-topping model in the Basalt lineup. Expect it to be priced similarly to the C3 X, which starts at Rs 7.91 lakh (ex-showroom).
