New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Maruti Suzuki, one of India’s largest automobile manufacturers, is gearing up to launch the new-gen Swift hatchback in the Indian market on May 9. The new Swift facelift marks a significant update to the hatchback after six years. Bookings for the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift have been opened. Interested customers can book the updated hatchback by paying an amount of Rs 11,000 on Maruti Suzuki’s official website or through its Arena dealerships. Ahead of its launch that is slated to happen in three days, let’s take a look at the top five improvements that make the new Swift better than its predecessor.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift - Design 

While the overall design philosophy remains unchanged, the next-gen Swift sports sharper styling cues. It features a new bumper, a redesigned radiator grille with the Suzuki emblem now placed on top of the front bumper, new headlamps and fog lamps. The new Swift is slightly larger, being 15mm longer, 40mm narrower, and 30mm taller than the previous model. However, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,450mm.

Recent spy shots of the new-gen Swift reveal a revamped cabin similar to other Maruti Suzuki models. It includes a free-standing infotainment unit, restyled central air-con vents, new HVAC switchgear and updated upholstery.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift - Features

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to offer several advanced features such as a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents, LED fog lamps and a new 9-inch touchscreen with connected technology. It will also retain existing features like cruise control, auto climate control and more.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift - Safety

Safety is a priority with six airbags now standard across all variants, along with ESC and hill start assist. This is a significant upgrade from the outgoing model, which offered only dual airbags even on higher variants.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift - Engine 

Under the hood, the new Swift will be equipped with an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E engine. This engine produces a power output of 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. It is slightly less powerful than the previous engine, however, it offers improved fuel efficiency with an ARAI-rated figure of 25.72 km/l, an increase of over 3 km/l compared to the outgoing model.
