New-Gen BMW X3: German automobile giant BMW has introduced the all-new fourth-generation X3 SUV, The new-gen BMW X3 boasts a fresh platform, updated design, and a host of new features and technology. This new model will also include an all-electric version, the iX3, set to debut globally next year. The new-gen BMW X3 is expected to arrive in India by the end of this year or early next year. After its arrival, the new X3 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5.
New BMW X3 - Design
Talking about the design and exterior appearance of the new-gen BMW X3, it is slightly longer and wider than its predecessor, while sharing design elements with the latest BMW X1. Notable features include a large-format kidney grille which is illuminated on the M50 xDrive and optional on the base 30 xDrive. Variants also feature L-shaped indicators in the headlamps and 19-inch alloy wheels, with optional 20 and 21 inch versions.
New BMW X3 - Interior
Moving inside, the BMW X3 features BMW's curved display with the iDrive 9 infotainment system, initially seen in the current X1. The interior also features newly designed heated sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and a woven fabric instrument panel.
New BMW X3 - Powertrain
The BMW X3 range starts with the 20 xDrive, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a mild-hybrid system producing a power output of 208 bhp and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h. The 20d xDrive diesel variant delivers 197 bhp and 400 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
The BMW X3 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 190 bhp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 184 bhp electric motor, producing a total of 300 bhp and 450 Nm. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed of 215 km/h and an EV-only range of up to 90 km.
The top-tier X3 M50 xDrive features a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine, delivering 398 bhp and 580 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 250 km/h with performance tyres, or 210 km/h with standard all-season tyres. All models come standard with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
