Delhi Fuel Ban: Delhi is currently choking on pollution, with a thick layer of smog surrounding the city, and the air quality has fallen to the ‘Severe’ category. The Delhi government recently took a strong step by banning the use of fuel for vehicles with expired pollution certificates (PUCs). The state environment minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, announced yesterday that vehicles without a valid PUC will not be allowed to be refuelled at the petrol stations in the state.
8 Lakh Vehicle Owners Fined
The state minister also shared an insight into the state government’s efforts to curb pollution in the national capital. During the press conference, the state minister also shared that a total of 8 lakh vehicle owners, without a valid PUC, have been fined with monetary penalties so far. The minister also added that from tomorrow onwards, only BS-6 vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi.
Automatic Cameras At Petrol Pump
Providing further insight regarding the fuel ban imposed on vehicles without a valid PUC, the state minister said that cameras installed on the petrol station will automatically identify a vehicle without a validPUC, and such vehicles will be denied fuel without any confrontation or disruption. The minister also added that the state government has been taking action daily to restrain pollution in Delhi.
