Czech automaker Skoda Auto reported the production of over 8.88 lakh cars in 2023. Among these, 52,000 units were manufactured in India. The Pune facility contributed 48,000 units of locally developed models like Kushaq and Slavia, while the Aurangabad plant added around 4,400 units, including models such as Superb, Octavia, and Kodiaq.

Skoda Auto plans to increase its customer base in India and extend its global market reach. In a recent press conference, the company announced plans to export Completely-Knocked-Down (CKD) units from Pune to Vietnam. Vietnam, in the ASEAN region, is strategically important for Skoda Auto as it leads the Brand Group Core and seeks to maximise growth for the Volkswagen Group. Additionally, Skoda Auto re-entered the Kazakhstan market in October 2023, as part of its globalisation efforts, aligning with the company's objective of broadening its global presence.
Aligning with this decision, Skoda Auto inaugurated a new Parts Expedition Centre in Pune in October 2023, serving as a logistics hub for CKD kits of the Kushaq and Slavia models produced in India. Starting this year, the facility is set to play a crucial role in the company's export operations in the ASEAN region, specifically Vietnam, where the kits will be used for final production. Moreover, the new Indian Parts Expedition Centre achieved a significant milestone in December 2023 as it became the first facility in India to receive the Indian Green Building Council's platinum certificate for its commitment to green building principles. This facility is spread across an area of 16,800 square metres and emphasises on water conservation, energy efficiency, natural resource preservation, waste reduction and the creation of healthier workspaces for employees.
