Tata Motors has recently made some changes to its popular Nexon SUV’s lineup by introducing new entry-level variants. This move was prompted by the launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO in India. The starting price for the Tata Nexon petrol has now been reduced to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the diesel variants start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tata Nexon competes with several popular models in the compact SUV segment, including the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. These new variants are expected to make the Nexon more competitive in its segment.
Tata Nexon - New Variants
The new entry-level variant for the Tata Nexon petrol is called Smart (O), priced at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 15,000 cheaper than the previous base variant, Smart. Tata also reduced the prices of the Smart + and Smart + S variants by Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively. The Smart + is now priced at Rs 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Smart + S costs Rs 9.40 lakh (ex-showroom). For the diesel lineup, Tata introduced two new variants - Smart + and Smart + S, priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. This marks a reduction of Rs 1.10 lakh in the base price of the Nexon diesel.
Tata Nexon - Powertrain
Despite these changes, there have been no alterations to the mechanical aspects of the compact SUV. The Nexon will continue to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing a power output of 120 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating a power output of 115 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Nexon also received five new automatic variants earlier in March.

Tata Nexon - Features
In terms of features, the Nexon is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display of the same size, a wireless charger, ventilated and height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer, voice-assisted electric sunroof, and more.
