Toyota on Wednesday launched the much-anticipated Century SUV for sale in the Japanese market. The India launch for the Century SUV has great potential as Toyota and Lexus have been introducing their high-end luxury vehicles like the Toyota Vellfire and the upcoming Lexus LM MPV in India.
Toyota Century SUV - Exterior Design
The Toyota Century SUV offers two-door setups; conventional side-opening doors and unique sliding doors like in an MPV. It features an upright, angular design with rounded edges, a distinctive shoulder line, and LED headlamps. The grille varies by variant but features the iconic Century "Phoenix emblem." Wheel options include 20-inch and 22-inch alloys. At the rear, there's a slanted rear glass, signature LED taillamps and Century badging in the centre. Like the Century Sedan, the SUV also offers two-tone paint options, with a total of seven exterior colour combinations.

Toyota Century SUV - Premium Interiors
The Century SUV, catering to luxury SUV enthusiasts, offers a host of premium features in its four-seat cabin. It boasts power-reclining side steps, rear doors opening 75 degrees, and a sizable grab handle for easy passenger access. The electrically adjustable seats fold completely flat, a claimed world-first achieved by moving the front passenger seat close to the dashboard. Additional amenities include rotating picnic tables, dual 11.6-inch TVs, two removable 5.5-inch touchscreen controls, and even a refrigerator.
The dashboard features premium materials with woodgrain and brushed aluminium finishes. It houses twin 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation, and the distinctive multifunction steering wheel like the Century sedan. The SUV also includes an 18-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, a digital rear-view mirror, and a heated steering wheel, among other luxuries.
Toyota Century SUV - Performance
Unlike the Century sedan, the Century SUV opts for a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid setup, delivering 406hp. It offers an all-electric range of up to 69km per Japanese WLTC testing, The SUV features various driving modes, including Normal, Eco, and Sport, along with a unique 'Rear Comfort' mode for rear passenger comfort. It also boasts four-wheel steering for easy handling at low speeds and smooth handling at medium-to-high speeds.
