Toyota Hilux Facelift Unveiled: Toyota Motors has unveiled the facelift of the Hilux pickup truck ahead of its official launch in the upcoming days. This iconic off-road pickup is also available in India, has undergone various changes mainly in terms of design. However, a significant update is the introduction of a mild-hybrid powertrain which has been introduced in this pickup truck for the first time. The Hilux 2024 facelift is set to debut in Australia and other global markets, with showroom availability expected by March. There's also potential for the facelifted version to be introduced in India, aligning with the carmaker's emphasis on hybrid technology in the country.
Toyota Hilux Facelift - Design
Talking about the design, the new Hilux gets a more robust appearance compared to the previous model. The front fascia has undergone a redesign to enhance its muscular aesthetic, featuring a new black honeycomb mesh grille, updated LED light signature, and a black bumper. Additionally, the fog light bezels, rearview mirrors, and door handles are now adorned in gloss black. The rear of the new Hilux includes shock absorbers for the cargo bed door, adding to its overall rugged appeal.
Toyota Hilux Facelift - Interior
The interior of the Toyota Hilux has also undergone modifications as it introduces new features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic power windows, a wireless charging pad for smartphones and rear USB-C ports. With these additions, the cabin gets a hint of contemporary features, though the rest of the cabin largely retains its resemblance to the outgoing version.
Toyota Hilux Facelift - Powertrain
Toyota has introduced a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain alongside the regular engine options, which include the 2.8-litre and 2.4-litre diesel, along with the 2.7-litre petrol unit, for the new Hilux. The mild-hybrid powertrain will be available with the 2.8-litre diesel four-cylinder engine variants. According to the manufacturer, the mild-hybrid Hilux is expected to deliver up to a 10 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency.
