TVS iQube E-Scooter Recalled: TVS Motor has initiated a voluntary recall of its popular iQube electric scooter. The units affected in this recall are manufactured between July 10, 2023 and September 09, 2023. The exact number of affected units has not been disclosed, but with around 45,000 scooters sold from August to October 2023, a significant number could be impacted.

TVS plans to reach out to affected customers directly or through its dealer network. The company assures that inspections and necessary repairs will be conducted promptly to minimise inconvenience. The manufacturer will organise appointments in phases to manage the process efficiently, with the aim to service and return the vehicles quickly.

The recall addresses a specific component that may need replacement, which will be handled on a vehicle-specific basis. While most scooters are expected to require replacement of only one component. TVS is prepared to replace the entire chassis if needed. Importantly, all corrective measures will be carried out at no cost to the customer.

The recall seems to be a proactive step following a widely circulated video showing a TVS iQube with a broken chassis. TVS's statement indicates that the recall aims to ensure good ride handling after continuous use, suggesting a potential issue with multiple components rather than a fundamental design flaw. By swiftly addressing the problem and initiating the recall, TVS demonstrates its commitment to customer safety and product reliability. This move not only aims to rectify the issue but also to maintain customer trust in the brand.
