Uber Expands Intercity Service To Over 3,000 Routes In India; Launches Limited-Period Motorhomes in Delhi-NCR

Uber Intercity Service Expansion: India's ride-hailing app Uber has expanded its intercity network to over 3,000 routes across the country, resulting in a 50 per cent increase in its coverage. The development comes along with a limited-time offering providing a comfortable and premium travel experience: custom-designed Uber Intercity Motorhomes. According to Uber, the expansion is a result of the growing demand for long-distance intercity road travel as well as upgrades to India's highway infrastructure.

For those interested, specially designed Motorhomes will be available from August 7 to September 6, with bookings commencing in Delhi-NCR on August 4 through the Uber application, which will have a dedicated icon for the service.

Uber Intercity Motorhomes: Seating Capacity, Features

Uber Intercity Motorhomes are designed for 4 to 5 riders, and come equipped with entertainment and convenience amenities including a television, lavatory, microwave, and mini-refrigerator. For added convenience and enhanced consumer experience, each Motorhome is provided with a driver and a helper.

Other notable features include advance bookings through Reserve, the ability to add stops along the way, real-time location tracking, and a 24x7 customer support helpline.

Uber Intercity Product: Most Popular Routes

Owing to leisure travel, pilgrimages, and outdoor events, Uber claims to have registered strong year-on-year growth, with Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Agra, Bangalore-Mysore, Lucknow-Kanpur, and Ahmedabad-Vadodara emerging as the most popular intercity routes over the last 12 months, particularly during festive periods and long weekends.

Uber says that intercity travel peaks on Fridays, particularly during the early hours of morning or between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
