VOLKSWAGEN Group, a German car manufacturer that also owns Skoda, has always been at the top of the safety rankings. Continuing its legacy, the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia, both made in India, received 5 out of 5 stars in the global NCAP car crash test. As a result, the sedans are now the safest made-in-India vehicles tested by the UK-based agency.

According to the report, both vehicles scored around 29.71 out of a possible 34 points for adult safety. In terms of child safety, both vehicles received 42 out of a possible 49 points, resulting in a 5-star rating in the segment. Furthermore, the cars have been rated stable and capable of withstanding additional loads.

For those who are unaware, the vehicles have been evaluated in accordance with the updated Global NCAP standards, which now take into account side and frontal impact protection. The evaluation of side impact pole protection, pedestrian protection, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are also included.

Furthermore, both the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia come standard with up to six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, reverse parking sensors with a rear parking camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), high-speed alert, Multi Collision Brakes (MCB), Electronic Differential Lock System (EDL), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), and more.

Both the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are backed by a 1 litre TSI engine which can churn out 113 bhp with a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmission. The cars are also available with a 1.5-litre TSI motor which can churn out a peak power of 148 bhp and is offered with a 7-speed DSG transmission.

The price of Volkswagen Virtus starts from Rs 11.48 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 18.57 lakh (ex-showroom). The Skoda Slavia is priced at Rs 11.39 (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 18.45 (ex-showroom).
