The world's first flying car was unveiled by Alef Aeronautics as its Model A prototype at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this week. This innovation had already secured legal approval back in June and comes with a price tag of approximately USD 299,999 or Rs 2.46 crore.
Jim Dukhovny, the founder and CEO of Alef Aeronautics, clarified that while the unveiled version is not the final production model, it closely resembles what the market can expect. Further, he emphasised the user-friendliness of the flying car, as he claimed that it will only take 15 minutes to learn how to operate the car, both on the road and in the air.
A pivotal moment in the journey of this flying car was attaining the Special Airworthiness Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in June. This certification allowed Alef Aeronautics to conduct comprehensive testing, both on the road and in the skies, further establishing its status as a credible and safe mode of transportation.

Bookings for the flying car already commenced in 2022 and have already garnered nearly 500 bookings. The flying car was built with the notion in mind that it will offer a solution to urban traffic congestion. However, the flying car's potential usage has expanded significantly over time. It has the potential to revolutionise personal transportation, offering a glimpse into the future where the skies are as accessible as the roads.
