The Election Commission is actively preparing for the upcoming assembly elections, likely scheduled for October-November, with increased activity following Election Commissioner Dr Vivek Joshi’s recent four-day tour of Bihar. During his visit, Dr Joshi directed Chief Electoral Officer Binod Singh Gunjiyal to transfer officers and employees who have been posted at the same location for over three years by August 31.

Acting on this directive, the government has initiated the transfer process for key officials involved in election duties, including Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates, DDCs, ADMs, SDOs, BDOs, Circle Officers, and police personnel such as IGs, DIGs, SSPs, SPs, DSPs, and Station Incharges.

These transfers, conducted under the Model Code of Conduct, aim to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. The Election Department is also monitoring the process closely. In addition, training programs for election-related staff are underway at various levels to enhance preparedness.

Voter awareness remains a primary focus of the Election Commission. A detailed action plan has been devised, including a three-day special campaign from June 3 (World Bicycle Day) to June 5 (World Environment Day).

This campaign will engage citizens, especially youth, women, and differently-abled voters, through creative and participatory activities designed to boost voter turnout. The campaign will feature bicycle rallies covering five to ten kilometers in each district headquarters, traversing major markets, squares, wards, and rural areas.

The campaign carries impactful slogans such as "Cycle Chalao, Voting Badao," "Mera Pehla Vote – Cycle Yatra," "Every vote will be counted, every tree will be saved," "Ride a cycle, vote," and "Healthy democracy, green environment." These initiatives aim to link environmental awareness and a healthy lifestyle with active participation in the electoral process.
