In a brazen daylight incident, three miscreants shot and injured a finance company employee before robbing him in Basauna village under the Bibhutipur police station area of the district. The incident reportedly took place around 11:00 am on Friday.

The injured victim has been identified as 30-year-old Digambar Kumar, a resident of Ramkrishnapur Ganj under the Karpurigram police station area. He is employed with Arohi Finance.

Bullet Lodged In Left Arm

The victim sustained a gunshot wound, and the bullet remains lodged in his left arm. Following the attack, local residents rushed him to the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment. After receiving preliminary care, he was referred to the Sadar Hospital. However, upon receiving information about the incident, his family members and colleagues arrived and shifted him to a private hospital for further treatment.

Victim Recognises

Digambar stated that he was heading to another village after collecting money in Basauna. While leaving the village, he stopped at a desolate spot on the road to urinate. At that moment, three miscreants approached him.

He revealed that he recognised one of the attackers as Gunjan, a resident of the same village. Gunjan allegedly fired at him and looted Rs 50,000 from his pocket before all three fled the scene.

Previous Enmity Suspected

The victim mentioned that he had an altercation with the accused during a collection drive last month, at which time the accused had threatened him with dire consequences. However, Digambar did not clarify the specific reason behind the dispute that occurred last month.

Upon receiving information, the Bibhutipur police reached the scene and have begun an investigation. Station House Officer (SHO) Sarvesh Kumar Jha stated that efforts are being made to trace the miscreants. Further legal action will be taken based on the victim's statement.
