Bihar Election 2025 Live Updates: Chirag Paswan’s LJP Releases Second List Of Candidates, NDA Finalises Line-Up For All 243 Seats

Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on Thursday released the second list of 15 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections. This follows the announcement of 14 candidates made by Paswan on Wednesday. 

Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav on Thursday filed nomination from Mahua for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections.

On Congress and Mahagathbandhan seat-sharing, Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnea, said, "Everything is done. Congress gave the country independence; no one can make Congress a slave in any way... Congress has a role in every kind of freedom... Everything is fine, Congress will not compromise with the respect of its workers."

Speaking at a rally in Bihar’s Saharsa, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "NDA is taking forward 'virasat' and 'vikas' in Bihar...Today, when development is being recognised, Congress and RJD have started a campaign that they don't want development, they want burqa, so that they can rob the rights of the poor by getting fake votes cast.",

Congress leader Shama Mohammad on Thursday said, "The NDA is still having internal fights even after candidates have been declared, so question them first. Our candidates will be finalised soon.”,

Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal said, "There is infighting going on in the Mahagathbandhan. The tug-of-war happening between RJD and Congress in the Mahagathbandhan proves that this will be their nature in the future as well, so the voters have made up their minds for NDA."  

He further said, "Injustice is being done to Mukesh Sahani. He had respect in the NDA. If Congress and RJD insult Mukesh Sahani in this way, it will also hurt them. The message has spread in the Sahani and Mallah communities that UPA and Mahagathbandhan are working to humiliate Mukesh Sahani.",

The Election Commission of India has issued directions for the allotment of broadcast and telecast time on Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) to national and state-recognised political parties for the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.,

JDU released its second list of 44 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. Notable picks include Sumit Singh (Chakai), Jama Khan (Chainpur), Vashishtha Singh (Kargahar), Jayant Raj (Amarpur), and Lesy Singh (Dhamdaha). Gopal Mandal’s ticket was cancelled, while Bulo Mandal was nominated from Gopalpur.

The Congress on Wednesday night announced 16 candidates for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly elections 2025, ahead of finalising Mahagathbandhan seat-sharing. Nomination certificates were handed to the candidates.,

The BJP on Wednesday evening released its third list of 18 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections, completing its lineup for all 101 seats. The list includes Bina Devi from Kochadhaman, Sangeeta Kumari from the SC-reserved Mohania seat, Sanjay Pandey from Narkatiaganj, Satish Kumar Yadav from Raghopur, Bharat Bind from Bhabua, Murari Paswan from the SC seat of Pirpainti, and Ashok Kumar Singh from Ramgarh. Earlier in the day, the party had announced its second list of 12 candidates, featuring singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar and former IPS officer Anand Mishra from Buxar.

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an NDA ally in Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday released the list of 48 candidates for the first phase of Bihar assembly elections. The party has reiterated that it will independently contest 153 out of 243 assembly seats in Bihar.

"We wished to strengthen the NDA in Bihar but due to the unresponsive behaviour of the state unit of the BJP, we could not get along with the alliance," SBSP national general secretary Arvind Rajbhar told reporters here.

He accused the Bihar unit of the BJP of "misleading the central leadership", adding that the party is "feeling deceived". "If not with NDA, we will not ally with any other bloc," Rajbhar said. He said the party, however, will "not remain on the backfoot" and will fight for ensuring "social justice and equality of rights and opportunities" in Bihar.

Lok Jan Shakti (Ram Vilas) Party has announced four candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election 2025. The LJP has been allotted 29 seats in the NDA's seat-sharing formula. The four candidates announced are:

Govindganj -- Raju Tiwari

Brahmapur -- Hulas Pandey

Bakhri -- Sanjay Paswan

Garkha -- Srimant Mruna

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on Wednesday filed his nomination from Raghopur assembly constituency ahead of assembly elections. The RJD leader's parents and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi were also present.

"The people of Delhi have sent me here. Our resolve is that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Delhi, Bihar, and the entire country should progress, and I have come here to contribute to this. Women have resolved to bring the NDA government back again. The work that NDA has done for Bihar in the last 10-11 years is unparalleled," Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said.,

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha dismissed reports of friction within NDA over seat-sharing, asserting that the alliance remains united and focused on service. "It is our experience and capable leadership that has carried forward the motto of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' with a spirit of service. There is no problem anywhere. The only people who are confused are those who have formed a self-serving alliance or a 'Maha Thugbandhan'. Everything is perfectly fine within the NDA," Sinha said.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha on Wednesday filed his nomination from Lakhisarai. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were also present.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United on Wednesday announced its first list of 57 candidates for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. The ruling party has fielded six sitting ministers in the first list. JD(U) has also fielded controversial leader Anant Singh from the Mokama seat, while murder accused Dhumal Singh has been fielded from Ekma seat. Bihar ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Sharwan Kumar, and Madan Sahni have also been included in JD(U)'s list of 57 candidates.

Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha on Wednesday said, "This time, nothing is well in NDA." Kuswaha, who left for Delhi on Wednesday to meet senior BJP leaders, said, "Everything will be fine. With this hope and belief, we are going to Delhi." According to party insiders, Kushwaha is not happy with the six seats allotted to his party. He is also not happy with the allocation of the Mahua seat to LJP. Efforts to convince Kushwaha by senior BJP leaders in Patna failed to make any headway.

RJD on Wednesday took a dig at Prashant Kishor over his decision not to contest the Bihar assembly elections, saying "he had accepted defeat for his Jan Suraaj Party even before going to the battlefield." RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwary said, "Kishor has realised that he and his party will face a humiliating defeat in the upcoming assembly polls. That is why he has announced that he will not contest. He has accepted defeat for the Jan Suraaj Party even before going to the battlefield."

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has announced that he will not contest the Bihar assembly polls, a decision, he claimed, was taken by the party for its greater good. "The party has decided that I should not contest the assembly polls. And therefore, the party has announced another candidate from Raghopur, against Tejashwi Yadav. It was a decision we took in the larger interest of the party. If I were to contest, it would have distracted me from the necessary organisational work," Kishor said.
