Bihar Election 2025: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today is likely to announce its candidates in a joint press conference in Patna a day after announcing the seat-sharing formula for the Bihar Assembly election. The names of the candidates are set to be announced at 4 pm in a press conference in Hotel Chanakya, with participation from top leaders of the BJP, JDU, LJP Ram Vilas, HAM, and RLM. While Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) has unofficially announced its candidates, discussions are ongoing regarding the seats allotted to the LJP and HAM. All the major allies, including BJP, JDU, and LJP, are also likely to release their first list of names of their candidates.
Earlier on Sunday, the ruling alliance announced the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming polls. As part of the negotiations, the BJP and the JDU will contest 101 seats each, while the LJP will contest 29 seats in the upcoming polls. The other constituents of NDA, Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM, will contest six seats each. The announcement was made by BJP's Bihar poll in-charge, Dharmendra Pradhan.
The announcement came after days of deliberations and speculations of discontent. There were reports of smaller allies like HAM and LJP (RV) demanding more seats, making seat-sharing talks difficult. JDU national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said that the seat sharing laid the foundation of a big victory.
"Definitely, the foundation of a big win was laid today. We were saying that seat-sharing arrangement will be finalised today. The number of seats the parties are getting is now in public domain. The popularity of CM Nitish Kumar, charisma of PM Narendra Modi are working, the magic of both the leaders is happening in Bihar. After the seat-sharing, we will further towards scripting a big win," Prasad was quoted as saying by ANI.
