Bihar Election Result 2025: The newly launched Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), led by Tej Pratap Yadav, faced a major setback in the Bihar Assembly Election. Despite the attention his party received ahead of polling, the JJD failed to win any seat in its first attempt. Tej Pratap, who contested from Mahua, finished in fourth place, marking a disappointing outcome for a leader from one of the state’s most prominent political families. Early counting showed him slipping to third and then fourth position and although his vote share increased slightly during later rounds, it was not enough to change the result.

Bihar Election Result 2025: Five Key Reasons Behind JJD’s Poor Performance

1. Weak Organisation And Lack Of Ground-Level Network

JJD is a newly formed party and the lack of a strong organisational structure was visible throughout the campaign. The party did not have booth committees, district networks or trained workers who could mobilise voters at the local level. In contrast, the RJD, JD(U), BJP and other NDA allies have spent years building systems that reach deep into villages. Without a strong ground presence, JJD struggled to communicate its message effectively, especially among women and first-time voters.

2. Family Rift Leading To Vote Fragmentation

One of the biggest setbacks for Tej Pratap was the impact of his differences with brother Tejashwi Yadav. The split within the Yadav family confused a section of traditional RJD voters. Historically, the Yadav community supported the RJD as a unified group, but the emergence of JJD fragmented this base. Parties like the RJD, LJP (Ram Vilas) and AIMIM benefitted from this division, reducing Tej Pratap’s chances in Mahua and other areas.

3. Negative Public Perception And Credibility Issues

Tej Pratap’s campaign suffered due to poor public perception. Many voters felt he relied too heavily on emotional appeals rather than clear development plans. Videos from his rallies, circulated widely online, showed him making vague statements, forgetting constituency details and struggling to name local candidates. This damaged his credibility. For many voters, simply resembling Lalu Prasad Yadav’s style was no longer enough; they wanted leaders demonstrating clarity, competence and seriousness.

4. Stronger Strategies From Rivals

Seats like Mahua depend heavily on caste equations, local alliances and candidate reputation. This year, rival candidates from the RJD, LJP (Ram Vilas), NDA parties and smaller groups effectively targeted vote pockets. Reports from the ground suggested that opposition parties ran coordinated campaigns, while Tej Pratap struggled to match their pace. In many booths, the Yadav vote was split multiple ways, weakening JJD even further.

5. Damaged Image Due To Controversies

Tej Pratap’s public controversies, family disputes and frequent statements about personal threats overshadowed his political messaging. Instead of focusing on development, jobs and constituency-specific issues, discussions around him centred on personal conflicts. This pushed many voters away, as they felt he lacked focus on governance.
