Bihar Election Results 2025: The Bihar Assembly elections are shaping up to deliver another resounding victory for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's NDA, while proving disappointing for the Yadav family’s rising star Tejashwi Yadav and his estranged brother Tej Pratap Yadav.
Vote counting for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections began at 8 am, as announced by the Election Commission of India.
Let's take a look at how are key candidates contesting?
1. Khesari Lal Yadav: RJD newcomer Shatrughan Yadav, popularly known as Khesari Lal Yadav, is making his electoral debut but is currently trailing in Assembly Constituency 118 - Chapra. After 8 of 28 counting rounds, he is in second place with 22,169 votes.

2. Maithili Thakur: BJP’s Maithili Thakur, contesting for the first time, has taken a surprising lead in Alinagar with a margin of 4,196 votes after 15 rounds. RJD’s Binod Mishra is currently behind by the same margin.
3. Tejashwi Yadav: Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav is trailing in Raghopur, a seat he has held since 2015. BJP’s Satish Kumar is ahead by over 4,570 votes.
4. Tej Pratap Yadav: Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, contesting on a Jan Shakti Janata Dal ticket, is in third place with 17,436 votes after 14 rounds. Having formed his own party after being expelled from the RJD, he trails LJP (RV) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh, who leads with 22,443 votes, while RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan is in second place.

Bihar recorded a historic voter turnout of 67.13 per cent in the two-phase elections held on November 6 and 11. As counting continues, the BJP is performing even better than in the previous polls. Prominent BJP leaders including Samrat Choudhary from Tarapur, Maithili Thakur from Alinagar, and Health Minister Mangal Pandey have maintained consistent leads since the early rounds.
Several rounds of counting remain, and the situation could still evolve. For now, however, the RJD is far behind, and the NDA appears poised to return to power once again.
