Bihar Election Results: Despite facing a massive electoral setback in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has emerged as the party with the highest vote share, surpassing both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU).

The ruling NDA, led by Nitish Kumar, is set to secure a dominant victory in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, with trends indicating around 200 seats, delivering a heavy blow to the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB). However, the RJD has a reason to celebrate despite its expected poor performance in terms of seats.

According to the latest trends on the Election Commission’s website, the Tejashwi Yadav-led party has garnered a vote share of 22.79 per cent, which is 2.27 per cent more than the BJP and 3.8 per cent higher than the JDU.

At 8:00 pm, the Election Commission trends show that RJD is likely headed for one of its worst electoral performances since its founding in the late 1990s. The party has won 17 seats and is leading on 7, bringing its probable tally to around 24 seats in the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly.

RJD contested 143 seats but is currently leading in only 24, marking what is expected to be its second-worst performance in Bihar elections after 2010, when it had won just 22 seats.

Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, won the Raghopur seat by over 13,000 votes. RJD’s allies in the opposition bloc are trailing behind, with Congress leading in five seats, CPIM(L) Liberation in two, and CPI in none.

The Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party and Mukesh Sahani's Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) are trailing in all seats they contested.
