In the run for the Assembly elections in Bihar, the political parties like Congress and Jan Suraj Party are making promises with unique and new methods to connect with the voters.
Both the Congress and Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party have explored creative ways to replace the traditional method of educating voters about promises using pamphlets and booklets by introducing something unique: PVC Cards and leaflets, resembling ATMs and chequebooks, respectively.
According to a report by NDTV, Kishor's JSP has designed a PVC card, which the poll debutant is calling a Parivar Labh Card. The card with the photo of the poll strategist-turned-politician and the guarantees mentioned on it.
The Parivar Labh Card claims to provide Rs 20,000 benefits to the families in Bihar with guarantees like employment, pensions, low-interest loans, free education, and free farm labourers.
The Congress, on the other hand, is reaching out to the voters with a chequebook-style leaflet. The front page of the leaflet is filled with assurances like free electricity up to 200 units, 3-5 decimal land for landless families for a home, free medical treatment of up to Rs 25 lakh, free tablets for students from class 8 to class 12, and a Rs 1,500 monthly pension for widows, the disabled, and the elderly.
The Congress has also highlighted a promise to provide Rs 2 lakh financial aid for self-employment. The Grand Old Party has emphasised that the aid is being given in Telangana and Karnataka, to add credibility to its promises.
While the Congress is contesting the Bihar Assembly elections in coalition with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), CPI and other small parties, Jan Suraj Party is making its debut with these polls and is fighting alone on all 243 seats. Both the parties are trying to dethrone the ruling NDA coalition of BJP and JDU and end Chif Minister Nitish Kumar's long reign.
