The Bihar government has issued directives to complete the construction of Panchayat government buildings in various parts of the state before the monsoon season. These instructions were given by the Secretary of the Building Construction Department during a review of the construction work on Wednesday.
In the meeting, it was also decided to take action against three executive engineers who showed slow progress in the construction work. The secretary was informed that the ground roof work of 190 buildings has been completed so far. Roof work has been completed up to the first roof in 93 buildings.
Finishing work is being done in 22 buildings, and plinth level work has been completed in 662 buildings. After being apprised of the current status of the buildings, the Building Secretary directed that the remaining work should be completed at a fast pace and that the remaining work should be finished before the monsoon season. He also directed that if any contractor or agency is found to be lax in the construction work, they should be blacklisted immediately.
The quality of construction was also discussed in the meeting, and the secretary said that the engineers should ensure that the buildings are constructed with full quality and good materials. If negligence is found at any level in this work, then identify such people and they will be punished.
It may be noted that the government has set a target to complete the construction of the under-construction buildings by June. The Panchayat building will have separate seating arrangements for the Panchayat head, secretary, Sarpanch, revenue staff, and other personnel.
