The Bihar government, committed to enhancing skill development, education, and employment opportunities for the state’s youth, will provide internships to around 1.05 lakh young people over the next five years under the recently approved Chief Minister’s Pratigya Yojana. The scheme will be implemented by the Labour Resources Department.
In the current financial year, 5,000 youths will be offered internships in reputed companies. A dedicated portal—currently in its final preparation stage—will be launched in September, providing complete information about the scheme and enabling online registration. The portal’s trial will be conducted before its rollout.

Labour Resources Department Secretary Deepak Anand said an action plan has been prepared from the state to the district level to ensure smooth implementation. Strict eligibility criteria will be followed, and only qualified youths will be selected.
Under the scheme, the government will provide a monthly stipend—Rs 4,000 for Class 12 pass candidates, Rs 5,000 for ITI/diploma holders, and Rs 6,000 for graduates and postgraduates. An additional Rs 2,000 per month for three months will be given if the internship is in a district other than the home district, and Rs 5,000 extra per month for internships outside Bihar.
From next year onwards, 20,000 youths will be selected annually. Internships will be prioritised in Bihar-based companies, though opportunities will also be extended to firms outside the state. A list of participating companies will be uploaded on the department’s portal, along with details of required qualifications and skills, enabling better matching between candidates and employers.
The department will spend Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 per youth from its funds for the programme, which aims to bridge the gap between education and employment for youths aged 18 to 25.
