Muzaffarpur Trader Shot Dead: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the graph of crimes in the state continued to soar. After Patna, now neighbouring district of Muzaffarpur witnessed a sensational murder of a businessman. A scrap dealer, Mohammad Gulab, was shot dead near Majhaulia within the limits of the Sadar police station. He was allegedly killed over a long-standing land dispute.

SDPO Vinita Sinha said, "A person named Mohammad Gulab, who worked as a junk dealer, was shot at three times by an unknown miscreant, resulting in his death."

Victim Was Threatened Two Days Ago: Police

The family has named a few people who threatened the deceased two days ago, she said, adding primarily, it appears that the incident occurred due to a dispute.

A case will be registered, and police teams have already left to conduct raids and action is being taken based on the statements given by the family, the official said.

India TV reported, citing eyewitnesses, the trader was sitting outside his shop when unknown assailants shot him in the head at point-blank range, prompting locals to take him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. He received three bullets.

Massive Protest On National Highway

Following the murder of the trader, the locals staged a massive protest with the dead body. They rushed to the National Highway-28 and blocked the road by placing the dead body at the protest site.

Retaliatory Action By Victim's Family

Angered with the Gulab's killing, his family members and locals gathered at the crime scene, and they attacked the house of accused. They also set fire to two vehicles parked outside the house.

The development comes after Patna was rocked with one murder after another of members of the business community. Noted Bihar Businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead at point-blank range by unidentified bike-borne criminals outside his home, near iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on July 4, 2025, triggering a huge outrage. Recently, a gangster, Chandan Mishra, was shot dead inside a private hospital in the capital city.
