The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the five-day weather forecast for Patna, highlighting the weather condition expected through April 21, 2025. According to the IMD, the region will see changing sky conditions from partly cloudy to mostly clear, with chances of rainfall, thunderstorms, and dust storms. Earlier in the day, the IMD issued an orange alert for the city.

On April 17, Patna is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky, especially during the afternoon or evening, with the maximum temperature reaching 36 degree celsius and a minimum of 27 degree celsius. The next day, April 18, will continue with partly cloudy conditions, and temperatures may rise slightly, with a high of 37 degree celsius and a low of 26 degree celsius.

April 19, brings a shift in weather patterns, as the sky will remain partly cloudy with possibilities of rain, thunder, or a dust storm. The temperature is expected to peak at 37 degree celsius and drop to 25 degree celsius during the night.

Weather conditions will stabilise by April 20, with a mainly clear sky forecast. The temperature will hover around a maximum of 36 degree celsius and a minimum of 26 degree celsius. Similarly, 21 April is expected to be mainly clear, with the temperature rising slightly to a high of 38  and a low of 28 degree celsius.

The death toll from the severe thunderstorms and lightning strikes in Bihar has risen to 66 as of midnight, pushing the total number of fatalities over the past two days to 80. The state’s Disaster Management Department has termed the recent pre-monsoon weather conditions as disastrous. Officials noted that Bihar has witnessed an average of 250 deaths annually due to natural calamities over the last five years, underscoring the recurring impact of extreme weather events in the region.

"The total casualties reported from thunderstorms and lightning strikes so far have climbed to 80 and the government expresses deep sympathy with the family members of the deceased," Bihar disaster management department minister Vijay Kumar Mandal told reporters on Friday.

Nalanda district reported the highest number of fatalities, with 23 lives lost. Among these, seven people tragically died when an old tree and a temple wall collapsed under the force of the storm. The impact was devastating, leaving behind widespread destruction and grief. Beyond the tragic loss of life, the thunderstorms also caused significant damage to agricultural fields, particularly affecting rabi crops and onion plantations. The storm’s intensity not only disrupted lives but also dealt a heavy blow to the livelihood of farmers across the region.
