Chapra Assembly Results: Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav, who was contesting on the RJD's ticket from the Chapra seat, was defeated by BJP's Chhoti Kumari by a margin of 7,600 votes. The star campaigner of the RJD secured 79,245 votes, while Kumari received 86,845, giving the Bhojpuri star a shocker.

Here Are The Major Reasons For Khesari's Defeat:

1. During the election campaign, he compared Lalu Yadav's "Jungle Raj" to Nitish Kumar's rule, which probably did not go well among voters. He had said that during the Jungle Raj, at least "people could escape by paying extortion money." The BJP strongly criticised this statement, calling it a symbol of the "anarchic mentality" of the Grand Alliance. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari slammed him calling it the true face of the Grand Alliance.

2. Khesari's statement on Ram Mandi drew criticms from the BJP leaders, including acto Pawan Singh and Nrahua. When asked about his comments on the Ram Temple, he said, "The Ram Temple may be linked to faith, but will anyone become a master or professor after studying there?"

3. The singer joined the RJD only in October 2025, which did not give him time to develop a strong grasp on local issues, while his rival Chhoti Kumari, a former Zila Parishad president and active in local politics, is a well-connected leader.

4. Despite Khesari's massive fan following in Bhojpuri cinema, voters prioritised development, law and order, and welfare schemes. The NDA's schemes, such as the Rs 10,000 aid for women, impressed women voters.

5. During the peak of campaigning, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Khesari for alleged illegal construction at his house in Mira Road in Thane, which created negative publicity for him.
