Bihar Assembly Election Result:The result for the Bihar Assembly election was announced on Friday, giving a landslide majority to the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The incumbent alliance has maintained a solid lead on more than 200 out of the 243 Assembly constituencies. The opposition alliance Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav, could only manage to lead over 30 seats. Apart from this, the Congress has only managed to lead four seats, showing party's poor performance even after senior leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in several districts. There could be several reasons behind Congress' poor performance in the polls, including internal rift and poor ticket distribution.
No Rahul Gandhi Effect In Assembly Polls?
Earlier in August, Rahul Gandhi-led Congress organised 'Voter Adikar Yatra' in 25 districts of Bihar. The Congress MP raised the issues of alleged poll rigging and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) during the campaign, with major target on the youth vote. However, the Congress could not manage to win even a single out of the 110 constituencies where the campaign was held.
Rahul Gandhi tried to raise the issue of alleged poll rigging by stating that the BJP won the recent assembly polls by "stealing the votes". While the campaign appeared to gather a huge crowd, the Congress leader failed to convince the voters as Congress could not win even a single seat in these regions.
'Vote Chori' issue could not impress the voters?
The issues raised by Rahul Gandhi during his campaign could not impress the voters, the poll result suggests. The Congress leader failed to raise several key issues, including unemployment and poverty during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', leading to a poll defeat, reported NDTV. Apart from this, several other factors, including internal party rift and ticket distribution has also led to party's poor performance in the state.
