Congress leaders in Gaya held a press conference on Thursday to strongly condemn recent objectionable remarks made against the Chief Justice of India. They characterised the incident as a direct attack on constitutional values and the self-respect of the Dalit community, alleging it was carried out by individuals with an "RSS-BJP mentality."

Speaking from the District Congress office, State General Secretary Shaukat Nishat, along with District Spokespersons Bablu Sharma and Ashok Bharti, jointly stated that the constitution's framer, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, had empowered the country with the "power of the pen." They argued that now, when a member of the Dalit community has reached the nation's highest judicial post on the strength of that power, they are being targeted.

The leaders described the attack as being aimed not just at an individual, but at "India's constitutional identity, the ideals of Baba Saheb, and the self-respect of the Dalit community." They also questioned the silence of prominent Bihar leaders like Nitish Kumar, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chirag Paswan, labeling it a form of "moral bankruptcy."

Drawing a sharp ideological contrast, the speakers asserted that the Congress party has always stood with the "ideology of the pen," whereas the BJP operates on a "shoe ideology inspired by the RSS." They affirmed that an attack on the dignity of the constitution and the judiciary will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
