Bihar Assembly Election Result: The Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance is heading towards a landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly election 2025 by leading in more than 190 out of the 243 constituencies. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained a lead on 90 Assembly constituencies, the Janata Dal United (JDU) is also leading on 82 seats. The Mahagathbandhan has managed to maintain a lead on less than 40 constituencies, with the RJD's tally expected to go below the 30 mark. While the overall tally of the incumbent alliance has significantly improved, Nitish Kumar's JDU has managed to maintain a lead on more than 80 seats, almost double of what it got in the 2020 Assembly election.

Key factors behind JDU's massive gain:

1. Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana: Nitish Kumar's government emphasised on women empowerment by transferring Rs 10,000 to 1.2 crore women. The JDU leaders stated that the cash transfer scheme was implemented to boost the employment opportunity for the women, especially in the rural region.

2. Beneficiary schemes: Apart from transferring the amount, the JDU government also announced several relief measures for the people, including free electricity up to 125 units and an increased relief fund for the farmers.

3. Strong hold on EBC voters: Nitish Kumar has a strong hold on 26 per cent Extremely Backward Class (EBC) by announcing multiple schemes for them since 2005. Apart from this, the JDU veteran also has a commanding hold on 7 per cent Kurmi and Koeri communities.

4. A possible sympathy wave for Nitish Kumar: The chief minister released a video message for the voters a few days ahead of voting, urging the voters to give him another chance. Nitish Kumar stated that he has done several development works for the state, adding that the state's image has entirely changed.

5. Liquor ban, law and order: Known as 'Sushaasan Babu', Nitish Kumar's decision to ban liquor has severely reduced the cases of domestic violence in the rural region. Apart from this, Nitish Kumar has reportedly improved the law and order in the state after an alleged 'Jungleraaj' of RJD rule.
