After a delay of more than five years, the process to construct the approach road for the Chandwara bridge has officially begun. The project, which has now received administrative approval, aims to complete the crucial link by the end of this year.

Under phase two, an approximately 3-kilometre-long road will be built from Jail Chowk to Sipahpur. Once operational, it will provide direct connectivity to the Darbhanga National Highway, significantly improving traffic flow for the eastern part of the city.

Project Cost and Land Acquisition

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 120 crore, with a significant portion approximately Rs 80 crore allocated for land acquisition. The construction will require the acquisition of 0.8630 acres of private land, which is expected to affect and displace around 24 families.

Census And Rehabilitation Plan

To ensure a proper rehabilitation scheme, the Additional Collector of Revenue has ordered a census of all affected families. The Mushahari Circle Officer has been tasked with conducting home-to-home visits and site inspections.

A comprehensive 13-point report will be prepared, including:

- A list of displaced families.

- Details on landless farmers and unemployed youths in the area.

- An assessment of the existing infrastructure.

- A list of any government buildings that may be affected.

This data will be used to formulate a rehabilitation plan and for a public hearing.

Major Connectivity Boost

The completion of the approach road will finally make the Chandwara bridge, built over five years ago, fully functional. It will eliminate the need for commuters traveling from Samastipur, Pusa, and Mushahari to take a long detour via Zeromile to reach Darbhanga. Similarly, travelers coming from Darbhanga will have a direct route to NH-28 and other areas.
