Acting on the directives of District Magistrate Dr Thyagarajan SM, a large-scale anti-encroachment operation was relaunched across the city on Monday. Teams led by ADM City Sanjay Kumar and the SDO cleared encroachments from Atal Path, JP Setu, Digha vegetable market, Rajiv Nagar, Kargil Chowk, and a cattle shed that was obstructing the Hartali Mor–Atal Path route. Two cows were also sent to the Kazi House.

On the first day, authorities demolished around two dozen huts, seized a dozen carts, and removed illegal posters and banners. A total fine of Rs 59,800 was collected from different circles. A strict vehicle-checking drive was also conducted, with several challans issued.

Anti-encroachment teams from the district administration, police, municipal corporation, and traffic police operated from 10 am to 2 pm, followed by a re-inspection drive from 4 pm to 8 pm. However, temporary stalls resurfaced within an hour in several stretches between Kargil Chowk and Veerchand Patel Path.

Departments including transport, revenue, health, road construction, fire, electricity, telecom, and forest divisions also participated. In the Nutan Rajdhani circle, temporary structures were removed from Veerchand Patel Path, Vikas Bhawan, and Maglus Road, with six carts and two counters seized and fines of Rs 2,000 collected.

The Patliputra circle demolished around 20 huts and collected Rs 2,500 in fines, while the Khagaul Municipal Council seized posters, banners, and carts, imposing fines of Rs 300. In Danapur Nizamat, officials removed 40 posters and banners, seized three carts, and collected fines totalling Rs 55,000.

DM Thyagarajan has approved a December calendar for anti-encroachment operations and assigned officials for specific dates and zones. The Traffic SP, ADM (Urban Management), SP (Law & Order), Additional Municipal Commissioner, and City Magistrate will supervise the drives. Follow-up teams will prevent re-encroachment, while SHOs will document all actions in station diaries. The DM will conduct regular reviews of the campaign.

ADM City Sanjay Kumar warned that legal action will be taken against those obstructing the drive. Vendors at Kargil Chowk and other congested zones have been instructed to stop encroaching. Those who continue will be treated as habitual offenders, and FIRs will be lodged against them.
