Patna: The post-mortem report of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant who was found injured in a girls’ hostel in Patna has confirmed that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered. The findings have strengthened allegations of rape and killing, triggering further action by the Bihar government.

Autopsy Reveals Brutal Injuries

According to police, the post-mortem report stated that the student suffered severe injuries across her body. Injury marks were found on her neck and other parts, indicating the use of strong pressure. The report said her death was not natural.

Police confirmed injuries to her private parts, along with bruises on her body. Based on the nature of injuries, investigators believe the student resisted the attack and fought back.

The cause of death has been listed as strangulation or suffocation, supporting the claim that she was murdered.

Forensic Evidence Confirms Rape

The strongest evidence came from forensic tests, which detected sperm samples on the victim’s clothes. DNA analysis confirmed sexual assault. Semen and blood samples were also recovered from the room where she was found, along with visible blood stains. Her clothes were found torn.

Officials said the samples will be matched with the DNA of the arrested accused and other suspects identified by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Government Action and Suspensions

Following the forensic report, the Bihar government stepped in. Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary held discussions with the Director General of Police and senior officers, directing them to ensure swift arrests.

Two police officers, Roshni Kumari and Hemant Jha, were suspended on Sunday for delayed action and failure to gather intelligence in time.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said the state government is taking all necessary steps to ensure justice.

Case Handed To CBI

Apart from the SIT, the Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case. Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishorsaid his party would provide legal support to the victim’s family.

The student lived in a girls’ hostel in Patna’s Chitragupt Nagar and was preparing for the medical entrance exam. She died on January 11 after remaining in a coma for several days. Her death led to widespread protests in the city, following which the hostel owner was arrested.
