Patna-Purnia Expressway: The Patna-Purnia six-lane greenfield expressway has received approval for an additional 32 km which is a new alignment. Construction is set to begin soon, with the expressway extending from Dighwara in Saran district to Dagarua in Purnia district.

At a press meet held at his residence in Saharsa, Madhepura JD(U) MP Dinesh Chandra Yadav stated that the expressway will greatly benefit the people of the Kosi and Seemanchal regions, as the longest stretch of the road will pass through these areas, connecting both rural and riparian regions, as per a TOI report.

Originally approved for a length of 250 km, the expressway has now been extended by 32 km. It will begin at Dighwara in Saran district and end at Dagarua in Purnia district.

The expressway will bypass Hajipur town, starting at the Hajipur-Chhapra NH-31 near Dighwara in Saran district. It will pass through several important locations, including Bidupur, Kachhidargah, Dumari Bujurg, Patepur, Rajapakhar, Laxmanpur, and the northern side of Jandaha. It will also cross NH-322 between Sarangpur and Sarairanjan, while connecting villages such as Chandaur and Chaita, as well as NH-527 between Rosara and Jahangirpur, and further linking Debdha, Ladma, and Kusheshwarsthan.

The road will enter the Kosi region at Kathdumer and pass through areas such as Rajanpurbadhba, Sonbersa Kachahri, and the Kahra block headquarters at Haripur-Makhar. It will also connect villages like Lagma-Bhaptiha, Khajuraha, Patarghat, Maganwar, Jemhara, Bhawangama, and Rajni before reaching Purnia district.

In Purnia, the expressway will pass near Barhara Kothi, Damaili, Kajra-Kajha, Parora, Banbhag, the Purnea aerodrome, Gulabbag, Kashwa, and will eventually merge with NH-27 at Dagarua.
