In view of the crowd of devotees expected for the Kartik Purnima bathing festival, the Patna traffic police have restricted vehicle movement and implemented route diversions on several roads.
On the day of Kartik Purnima, from dawn until the crowd of devotees subsides, the movement of all types of vehicles from Kargil Chowk to Gaighat in the east will be completely prohibited. All link roads on Ashok Rajpath, from Kargil Chowk to the area under the Gaighat bridge, will also be closed. Devotees will only be permitted to park their vehicles on the Patna College and Science College campuses via Khajanchi Road.
Similarly, the movement of all types of vehicles from Kargil Chowk to Shahpur in the west will remain normal. On the JP Setu, traffic from Sonepur towards Patna will be suspended from 10 pm on Tuesday until 11 am on Wednesday. The entry of heavy vehicles has been prohibited.
Vehicles approaching Patna from the JP Ganga Setu will not be permitted to descend onto the Ganga Path. The traffic police have appealed to the public to use the Mahatma Gandhi Setu as much as possible during this period.
Buses travelling to Danapur or Khagaul via Patna Junction, GPO, and Nehru Path will be parked inside Gate No. 10 of Gandhi Maidan instead of proceeding to Kargil Chowk.
Traffic will be monitored during the festival, and teams from the police, administration, NDRF, and the health department will be deployed to handle any emergency situations.
Vehicles of devotees arriving at the ghats from the Digha area will be directed to make a U-turn from the northern end of Patli Path for parking. Devotees visiting the Patipul, Digha, Shiva, and Minar ghats are advised to park their vehicles only in the designated parking areas at the ghats.
Vehicles heading towards the ghats at Gate Nos. 83, 88, and 93 will enter via the Ganga Path underpass and park at designated spots. Vehicles bound for Kurji Ghat will travel via Kurji Mod and through the Ganga Path underpass to the designated parking area.
