Bihar's Buxar district is set to be connected with the hyped 340-km Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. The district administration has proposed a three-lane bridge on the Ganga River to link the Purvanchal Expressway to Patna-Buxar, NH 922. The proposed alignment of the bridge has offered a challenge to the administration, but the construction work is expected to start soon.
The approach path of the bridge is set to pass through some of the most densely populated areas of the city. The problem of daily traffic congestion at the western end of Buxar-Patna NH 922 near Buxar Golambar may become even more serious due to the construction. Sub-divisional officer Dhirendra Mishra has urged the District Magistrate Anshul Aggarwal to instruct the construction companies to build elevated roads in the densely populated areas to reduce the chaos. The district magistrate has called for a meeting to discuss the proposal.
Buxar Golambar is the point from which the vehicles coming from Uttar Pradesh and Patna enter the city. This is a very crowded area, as from here, roads start in different directions towards Jaso, Patna, Chhotki Sarimpur and Badki Sarimpur Dam.
Travel Time Between Bihar And Delhi To Be Reduced
The Purvanchal Expressway starts from Chandsarai village on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Road (NH-731) and ends at Hyderia village in Ghazipur district (NH-19). It will not only cut the travel time between parts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi but also the travel time between Delhi and Bihar. Apart from Buxar, Bhagalpur district will also be connected to the expressway in the near future. People of Bihar will be able to reach Delhi by road almost within 12 hours. The request to extend the expressway till Bihar was made by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Transportation between Delhi and Bihar by road will become easier. We already have a good road between Buxar and Patna, and the widening of four lanes is underway,” Kumar said.
