The Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Rajendra Nagar, Patna, is set for a major overhaul, with the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) issuing a fresh tender for its Rs 500-crore reconstruction. The project, to be completed within two years of tender approval, will transform the facility into Bihar’s second international-level stadium after Rajgir.

Earlier, construction work was awarded to Lucknow-based Sky Line, which had submitted a stadium blueprint to the BCA. However, the tender was later cancelled.

The state government had leased the stadium to the BCA for 30 years in November last year, along with responsibility for redevelopment. At that time, the estimated cost of construction was pegged at Rs 700 crore.

The revamped sports complex will feature two international-standard cricket grounds, an indoor practice arena, practice nets, a video analysis centre, and a modern gym. Facilities for lawn tennis, badminton, volleyball, and a swimming pool have also been planned.

For players and visitors, the stadium will house modern dressing rooms, a VIP lounge, a press box, a clubhouse, a five-star hotel, a hostel, and a spa. The venue will accommodate 40,000 spectators and will be equipped to host major tournaments such as the World Cup, IPL and Champions Trophy.

The project also includes enhanced security systems and improved connectivity, with transport facilities linked to an upcoming Patna Metro underground station.
