Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025: Prashant Kishor, also known as PK, failed to make a mark in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 as his Jan Suraaj Party drew a nil. Kishor, a poll strategist-turned-politician, also known as PK, has been a fresh factor in the state, where people are divided on caste-lines when it comes to politics. In the last couple of months, PK managed to create a buzz on social media and also succeeded in gaining a big share of the media coverage. His rallies and roadshow were drawing a sizable crowd, sending a lert to other traditional players in the poll battle.

PK's party fielded candidates in 238 seats, but failed to win a single one. Its vote share was also very low—less than 5,000 votes in most seats.
As per trends available with the Election Commission, most of the JSP candidates have secured less than 10 per cent of the total votes polled. The party, floated by the former political strategist, failed to galvanise votes in its favour, despite a high-pitched campaign and raising pressing issues such as unemployment, migration and dearth of industries.
A majority of the JSP candidates look set to forfeit their security deposit, according to the Commission data.
As per rules, candidates must secure at least one-sixth of the total votes polled to retrieve their security deposit – Rs 10,000 for general candidates and Rs 5,000 for SC and ST nominees. Failure to meet this threshold results in deposit forfeiture, an official said.
Meanwhile, Friday's results announced by the Election Commission of India came as a rude shock for the PK supporters. The JSP, so far, has not opened an account in the election. Its vote share is so minimal that it is not featured in the chart of vote share on the EC website.

Will PK Quit Politics?
It has not been a long time since PK debuted in politics. His party was formed last year on 2 October, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. In a short time, he managed to create a buzz, and people started talking about him. PK was also very confident. During the poll campaigns, PK was heard as saying that he would quit politics if Nitish Kumar's Janta Dal United won more than 25 seats.
On speculation that Prashant Kishor might leave Bihar after the electoral setback, Jan Suraaj Party spokesperson Pavan K Varma dismissed the idea. "Whether he stays or goes is his personal decision. But he cannot leave Bihar, nor can Bihar leave him. Once the complete results are out, he will share his response on the future course," he added.
Factors Behind Defeat
PK, during his padyatra, vowed that he would do clean and new politics in Bihar, where caste-based voting dominance. PK focused on agendas such as unemployment and education, which probably did not work well in the state.
Padyatras, rallies, and social media drew crowds, but booth management and voter mobilisation at the grassroots level were missing in the state.
Kishor's direct attack on Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not go well among voters. In the cult politics era, PK attempted to make education, migration and jobs a poll issue, but traditionally, votes in Bihar depend on social engineering and traditional issues such as reservation and law and order.
