The central government continues its push to develop infrastructure in Bihar with the progression of the Raxaul-Haldia Greenfield Expressway. The process for its construction has been officially initiated in the Muzaffarpur district, marking a significant step forward for the region's connectivity.

1. Land Acquisition And Administration

The Aurai Circle Officer (CO) has submitted a report to the District Land Acquisition Officer regarding the verification of the 3-A proposal for land acquisition. This report identifies specific locations where the acquisition process will commence shortly.

Identified Villages: Land will be acquired in five villages within the Aurai block:

  • Rampur
  • Dakrama
  • Bhado
  • Bhawanipur
  • Paramjivar Tarajivar

The CO's report includes the names of these revenue villages along with their respective police station numbers. Reports for other villages likely to be included in the project are expected to be submitted soon.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has selected a route that promises to enhance regional connectivity significantly.

Highway Type: This will be Muzaffarpur’s first six-lane facility.

District Coverage: The expressway will traverse approximately 50 kilometres through the Muzaffarpur district.

The Route: Starting from Raxaul, the expressway will pass through Minapur and Aurai in Muzaffarpur, proceeding to Samastipur. From there, it will connect to Haldia via Begusarai, Lakhisarai, and Jamui.

Time and Distance Reduction:

Current Scenario: The existing route to Bengal runs via Purnia on a four-lane road, taking approximately 15 hours.

Future Scenario: The new six-lane expressway will provide a direct route via Samastipur, reducing the travel time to just 8 hours.

4. Economic Impact

While the project will take considerable time to reach completion, it is expected to accelerate the pace of development in the region. The highway is projected to generate employment opportunities for the local population and facilitate easier movement of goods and passengers.
