To accommodate the heavy rush of devotees during the Kartik Purnima fair in Sonpur, the North Eastern Railway has announced the operation of a special train service between Sonpur and Chhapra.

The 05203/05204 Sonpur-Chhapra-Sonpur Kartik Purnima Mela Special will run for two trips on  November 5 and 6, 2025.

According to the railway administration, train number 05203 will depart Sonpur at 00:15 and arrive in Chhapra at 02:30, halting at Parmanandpur, Nayagaon, Sitalpur, Dighwara, Ambika Bhawani Halt, Avtarnagar, Panchpatia Deoria Halt, Bara Gopal, Dumri Juara, Goldinganj, Chhapra Gramin, and Chhapra Kacheri.

On the return leg, train number 05204 will leave Chhapra at 03:45 and reach Sonpur at 06:38, following the same route. The special service will operate with an 8-coach MEMU rake.

Railway officials said the initiative will help in managing the festive crowds while ensuring smooth travel for devotees attending the fair.
