Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Reaffirming NDA’s stance in Bihar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister on Saturday said that the alliance is contesting the upcoming Assembly elections under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
While speaking at NDTV Bihar Power Play, Shah emphasised, “We are fighting under Nitish Kumar's leadership. He is the chief minister,” adding that he has “clarified this over 50 times.”
The Union Home Minister further said that the decision on who becomes chief minister is made by the party’s constitutional process, which takes place after the election.
“As far as the chief ministerial candidate is concerned, there is a constitutional process in the party for that. It will be decided after the election,” NDTV quoted Shah as saying.
Shah Dismisses Concerns Over Nitish Kumar’s Health
Amid questions about Kumar’s health following a series of unusual gestures at public events, Shah highlighted CM’s busy campaigning schedule. “Nitish Kumar has been addressing five rallies every day,” he said, dismissing concerns over Kumar’s health.
Earlier in October, Nitish Kumar drew attention during a virtual event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi by remaining seated with folded hands for almost a minute while other leaders read the programme details.
Shah Takes Aim At Opposition, Compares NDA To Pandavas
Earlier today, the Union Home Minister criticised the Mahagathbandhan for ‘chaos and fighting’ within the opposition alliance. He also likened the five parties in the NDA to the five Pandavas. The NDA in Bihar comprises of BJP, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 6 and 11, and counting of votes will take place on November 14.
