Appearing in public for the first time since recent complaints and indictments in the US, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani on Saturday said his group is committed to compliance and "every attack makes us stronger".
On November 20, 2024, the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission filed an indictment and a civil complaint in the New York District Court against Adani Green's key employees Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and Vanit Jain.
"Less than two weeks back, we faced a set of allegations from the US about compliance practices. This is not the first time we have faced such challenges. What I can tell you is that every attack makes us stronger," he said addressing the 51st Gems and Jewellery Award in Jaipur.
AJL is accused of paying $265 million in bribes to Indian officials to secure a solar power sales contract that could have earned the company $2 billion over 20 years. Last week, the Adani Group called all the allegations baseless and said it would take legal recourse to defend itself.
